Dental cavities or cavities can be restored with a number of different materials. Smaller cavities above the gum line are usually restored with tooth color (composite resin) filling. Larger cavities or teeth that have wear and fractures are sometimes restored with porcelain fillings. These fillings, called inlays or onlays, are made in a dental laboratory and are more durable than composite fillings.
